Over the past few weeks, I have felt a little under pressure due to myself being so busy with personal tasks while, also falling behind on other classes. During those weeks i really struggled to prioritise the work/study/life balance and I had mostly spent my time prioritising towards personal tasks rather then taking the time to sit down and count hours to dedicate my free time to. I also see this as a reoccurring issue and a goal I'd like to achieve by the end of the trimester is to properly balance that out and not over do my free time.
What I've been working on in the past few weeks have mostly been new sprites and completing animal animations, I was feeling a bit behind however, with having a chat with Will about it made me relax a bit. The basics of what was said was to just sit down and work on things during class, I had also suggested of attending a study group which depends on all of our available times. Another thing I found helpful was to keep all distractions away from me during class time and to make sure I keep working on tasks that way I could get more work done. I have just sat on my phone going back and forth mostly being unmotivated but wanting to see the project done.
A task that I was struggling a little with was the swaying animations of the flowers and trees. I spent a while working on them with nothing looking to how I or how the group wanted, there was also feedback from playtesting that the trees were swaying too much which is something that I agree on.
Things that I should be aiming for the rest of the trimester is making sure to continually work on tasks efficiently as I would be able to add in any stretch goals or polish any sprites up. This would be extremely important to do as I would be on a tight schedule to complete current tasks.
Missed Week Prompts; Quality & Business
Week 4/5 -Quality assurance;
My main quality standards are for all sprites and animations to have smooth lines and to make sure everything is within the same style. I'd also like to see everything polished . Another thing would be to make sure the animations of the trees and flowers don't feel like they are a distraction from everything else, I'd like them to have smaller movements. I think as well, that the game has its own little cute charm and its something id like other people to feel. From feedback i've read, a lot of people adore the relationship between CU and Nan, I feel like people will grow to love those two characters and want to play purely because of that. I think if the interactions that players can have with her such as giving her flowers and having tea, is done well thats the whole game done. At this stage the game looks almost near polished and I think the main goal to make sure everything looks good is to keep asking for feedback to the team and people who are outside of the project to get more opinions after the sprite/ animation is done in case something I think looks decent actually isn't.
